My Father cigars
My Father Cigars is the Garcia family's cigar company, and most of its cigars are made in Estelí, Nicaragua, with a smaller rolling floor in Miami.
Don Pepín Garcia and his children
José "Don Pepín" Garcia, born in Cuba in 1950, is the master blender behind My Father Cigars.
He rolled his first cigar at 11. The company calls him a third-generation blender. In 2003 he moved to Miami and opened a small factory, El Rey de los Habanos, with his son Jaime and his daughter Janny.
The family still runs it. Jaime blends. Don Pepín's name sits on its own set of lines. Before My Father existed, Don Pepín also made early brands such as Tatuaje, San Cristobal and La Aroma de Cuba, according to the company.
Why the company is called My Father
My Father is named after a blend: the original My Father cigar, which Jaime Garcia created in 2008.
The cigar came first. A year later, in 2009, the family moved its main operation to a farm and factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, and named the new company after that blend: My Father Cigars S.A.
Where are My Father cigars made?
My Father cigars are made mainly in Estelí, Nicaragua, at what the company calls the Garcia Family Industrial Park.
The company lists three owned factories:
- Estelí, Nicaragua: the Garcia Family Industrial Park and the main factory.
- El Paraíso, Honduras: a second factory.
- Miami, Florida: a boutique floor with twelve rollers trained by Don Pepín. It is also headquarters, with a warehouse and distribution.
Which floor rolls a cigar shows on the line page. The Don Pepín Garcia Original says "HandCrafted in the USA" with 100% Nicaraguan tobacco. The My Father line is grown and rolled in Estelí.
My Father tobacco comes from its own farms
My Father says the tobacco for its flagship blend is grown on the company's own farms in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Most of the portfolio is Nicaraguan leaf from binder to filler. The wrapper is where lines split: Habano Rosado, Habano Oscuro, Ecuadorian Connecticut. For a primer on those leaf names, see cigar tobacco regions.

My Father milestones
My Father went from a small Miami shop to a three-factory company in about two decades.
- 1950: José "Pepín" Garcia born in Cuba.
- 2003: El Rey de los Habanos opens in Miami.
- 2008: Jaime Garcia creates the My Father blend.
- 2009: operations move to Estelí; My Father Cigars S.A. opens.
What to know before you buy a My Father
The company labels most of its core blends full-bodied, and the Connecticut line is the clear exception in wrapper.
Pressing is called out by size, not by line. The No. 6 Toro Gordo and the Le Bijou Torpedo are listed as box-pressed. So is the Don Pepín Original's 6 x 62 Toro Grande. Other sizes are listed without a press. Learn the difference in what a box-pressed cigar is.
Sizes run wide. A 4 1/2 x 32 Demitasse at one end, a 9 1/4 x 48 Exclusivos at the other. Line them up on the size chart.
